THE PLOT THICKENS↴ Congrats to everyone who has had their application accepted so far, and welcome to Lost Carnival! The game isn't planned to start until Saturday, but in the meantime this is going to be our great big CR planning and plotting post to get us ready to go. I'm going to be outlining some of the more recent events in carnival history in more detail, which is mostly going to be useful to veteran players, but it'll also be good to know for new arrivals to give them a better idea of the atmosphere their character are entering into. As many of you likely know, the most relevant event in the carnival's recent history is the VAMPIRE WAR. That is, when a mercenary job taken on by the Nightrider's team on a particular world resulted in a group of vampire sorcerers following them back to the carnival and wrecking the place. (Check out the extended history for more info.) A lot of damage was done in the fighting, and while the vampires were eventually killed/ousted, around 4-5 carnival members were killed. This disaster resulted in a large portion of the carnival's employees finishing up their contracts and returning home in the following months, discouraged by the destruction. Death and violence is not something the carnival sees a lot of in the average season, and so it was very much considered to be a turn for the worst. In the comments below, there is going to be a top level encouraging the discussing and brainstorming of specific identities to give those killed in the attack, since there were not that many of them over all and presumably veterans should have names associated with those lost. At least one of the was the previous Warden, who was drained of her blood and killed during the battle. The other four can be potentially anyone, so if you have any concepts for victims that would help your veteran backstory, let us know below! As it often goes with vampires, a large portion of vampire forces were neonates - that is, young vampires that were only recently made. A large number of neonates were killed during the fighting, but it seems like most of the elders that came along retreated at the end without being destroyed. The older the vampire, the more powerful their magic, and in this case the strength of those elders was much more than even the Ringmaster was expecting. The vampires were wielding a variety of spells, most of which fit in the category of what you would call black or infernal magic. Beyond that, vampire abilities seemed to average out at invulnerability to most physical wounds (fire, blows to the heart, and decapitation being the exceptions), super speed, super strength, and a natural skill for hypnosis and mind control. It's entirely possible that some of the veterans present were bewitched into aiding the vampires temporarily during the attack. THE SUMMERLANDS↴ After the vampire attack, the carnival was completely out of commission. Its grounds were left smoldering, and its employees were traumatized - so the Ringmaster decided to send everyone on vacation, to one of the few places she considers truly safe. That is, the Summerlands. The Summerlands is an idyllic realm inhabited by a population of summer fae, as the Ringmaster calls them. Generally speaking, they are a species of magical humanoids with pointed ears, unearthly beauty, sometimes wings, and a penchant for magic associated with the power of the sun and growth. The Ringmaster will refer to them as old allies of hers, though not the same kind of fae as she is. She won't be inclined to go into much more detail than that. While not exactly aloof, the summer fae there tend to be somewhat uncomprehending of the problems most mortals face. While they do have a concept of ethics, it is hard to compare to that of most of the carnival's employees, and their outlook on things tends towards that of a very neutral perspective. Rather than having much interest in war or politics, they are primarily focused on enjoying existence and the celebration of nature. Either way, they are gracious hosts, and for the two months or so the carnival lingered there the workers were treated to no shortage of food and wine, and eternally perfect weather. This queen of this realm is a fae called the Summer Maiden, who apparently has a close relationship with the Ringmaster. So much in fact that the two of them disappeared together for almost the entire duration, leaving the carnival to relax and perform at their leisure. The Ringmaster was having such a good time that she almost forgot to leave. THE CROSSROADS↴ The Crossroads is essentially a mega mall, except built in a rift between dimensions, kept stable by a mixture of magic and technology from a council that the Ringmaster doesn't care enough to know the details of. There are not that many species out there that can cross between universes freely, but in a multiverse of thousands of worlds, even a very small percentage can add up to a lot of visitors. Or, in this case, a lot of alien strip malls. The stores in the crossroads sell goods from all over the multiverse, sometimes with a barter system and sometimes with something simply called "currency" that one can convert items of value into when they arrive. The Ringmaster gifted all her remaining employees with an "allowance" to spend in their time there, so if they needed new clothes or other supplies, this was the time to do it. It wasn't enough to buy any high end relics or technology, but it was certainly enough to buy more novelty t-shirts than you can easily hold. Along with being given spending money, they were all put up in various hotels for the duration, while the carnival was being repaired. There was seemingly an infinite quantity of strange goods, foods, and attractions to see in the duration, but even in a three month stay it'd be impossible to see everything. The local culture of the Crossroads can be sort of difficult to grasp for outsiders, though, so exploring the whole thing may have not felt very inviting in the first place. With every market there is a black market, after all. THE IMPORTANT PART↴ And that brings us to the present carnival timeline! Having finally returned to duty (the last "season" has mostly been hanging out with the summer fae and doing the occasional "performances" in the Crossroads without any of the carnival's equipment) the Ringmaster is recruiting non stop to try to refill the ranks. A promising batch of newbies have been claimed as the veteran get used to their rebuilt home, and the whole gang tries to press forward. This post is for vets to plot out backstory, and for everyone to plot for the future ahead. There will be a couple top levels below, but after that it's open season! Please introduce yourself OOCly and tell us about your characters, and what you'd like to achieve with them. For veterans, feel free to include as much additional timeline information as you see fit - some people have made history outlines where they write down what your character was doing at each stop they were present for, so go ahead and link those if you have them. ⇨ THE VICTIMS

During the vampire attacks, around 4-5 carnival members died. Now is the opportunity to determine who those people were! They could be just about anyone - newbies, olbies, supervisors... the options are open.

If you have an idea for a concept, post beneath this header with it so that we can brainstorm. If we end up with more concepts than we can fit, we can vote between the options, if necessary. The important thing is that the veterans can actually be mourning actual people with names rather than nebulous casualties.

⇨ KIWANI, THE OLD WARDEN

Before there was Sans, there was a Warden who was much less garbage, and her name was Kiwani. Coming from a military background on her homeworld, she took her job very seriously and made sure to provide rigorous training to her security team, in order to best protect the carnival. She had worked there for multiple decades before she died, and it didn't seem like she was intending on leaving any time soon. Unfortunately, a vampire elder got the best of her and sucked her dry during the attack on the carnival.

She was stern but with a matronly core that would be exposed the longer you got to know her. In terms of easy character references, if Lin Bei Fong from Legend of Kora would do it, Kiwani probably would, too. She'd had enough time to master a number of faeish spell techniques, and had a natural talent for marksmanship and melee combat.

It's probably safe to say that a lot of the security team finished their contracts after she died and went home - probably in part due to the fact that Sans became the new Warden, who was not known for being hard working or particularly good at his job.

⇨ THE SUPERVISORS

There's been a lot of turnover in the carnival lately, particularly in its leadership. For those Supervisors that have had their applications accepted, I'd ask that you make a plotting post beneath this header so that you can tell everyone about your character and introduce those in their division to their new (or old) boss.

Tell everyone what it's like to work beneath them, how they were appointed, and how long they've been around. Those playing Supervisors have creative control over who the previous Supervisor in their role was as an NPC, and how they left the carnival, so if you have any ideas for that this is a good time to share as well.

For people playing workers, this is a good place to respond and introduce your character to their boss! You'll get along famously, I'm sure.

⇨ THE RINGMASTER

There's a lot of info already littering the info pages about the Ringmaster, but here she is for plotting! The big boss.

The Ringmaster is as nosey as she is powerful, and it'd be a pretty good guess to assume a lot of the reason she runs the carnival is so that she can people watch those that work there. Though her opinions of her workers vary, she is fascinated in and interested in each and every one of them - that is, she will insert herself into their lives whenever she sees fit, as loudly and rudely as need be to get the job done. Her primary goal is to help you "improve" by whatever metric she judges such things on, and will do her best to send you along the path of achieving your true potential, whether or not you like it.

That is, if your character is reluctant or a fuddy duddy, she will probably harass them both because it's funny and also because her dream is for them to loosen up and become a more powerful and confident person. She is not always right about these things, but she tends to think she is. She probably has good intentions, at least. Probably.

So, if you'd like particular CR with the Ringmaster (veterans especially) let me know here. Tell me how your character is going to react to their situation, how they react to the Ringmaster, and if they have any personal issues or "flaws" that she might be interested in trying to help them fix. I may not be able to give detailed replies to every person who responds, but I will be storing this information for future reference, so that she can strike when you least expect it.

The (11th) Doctor | Doctor Who | Scout/Magician | Veteran

"The Doctor" has been with the carnival for about 3 years by this point, with him joining the carnival when they were performing for a bunch of trees. His contracts have all revolved around learning fae magic, including space time magic and healing magic. His reasons for studying it? Well what answer you get and how honest it is depends on CR naturally. You must be a level 4 friend to unlock his tragic backstory.

To strangers meeting him at the current time he's a tall rather glowy humanoid fellow with an expressive aura and an angler lure hanging out of his head. He's usually friendly but definitely odd by most people's standards. Expect him to ask a lot of questions and talk A LOT. He's hard to miss. For those who met him in previous years, the first year he was with the carnival he kept to himself much more as he was very depressed at the time. Since then he has warmed up to most of the staff and it seems contact with the carnival guests and new worlds raised his spirits, or distracted him from his pain more accurately.

During his time at the carnival The Doctor has switched between many jobs, generally going wherever an extra body was needed. He's a jack of all trades with a brain full of knowledge and an endless supply of stories about travels to other planets and time periods. A multi-dimensional carnival never was all that strange to him. He's particularly good with technology and tinkering and he enjoys solving problems. Exploring and helping people across the universe was basically his life before joining the carnival. Currently he's a scout, and when he's not out exploring the current world he's performing as a magician.

Carly's a bit of a stammery babbler herself which is probably odd considering her wardrobe of choice in recent times has been mini-skirts and halter tops but HEY it happens. She looks a lot like the earthbound god who's currently using her shadow to talk. Huzzah.

Carly's own first year was spent kinda torn across the board but she'd have been a Scout ever since the end of the Musical realm, so let's cook up some likely CR!

So, Pidge (as she goes by most of the time) is a new addition to this crazy ride you call the carnival because she was unfortunate enough to accidentally skip out on paying her entrance fee. Thanks to her technical know how, she's working as a repairman underneath Peridot and is not really all that happy about being stuck here instead of looking for here friends and family. Ideally, she'll settle in, make some friends and get on with life so she can go back to things. I'd love to just see where the game takes me and figure out whether Pidge will warm up to her new co-workers or not.

Carly has been around since the VEEEEERY BEGINNING- or at least as far back as is detailed on the timeline. She would have come in when the Carnival passed by the Netherworld (Not Nether Realm) that she showed up in after getting dragged there in Second Death with Aslla Piscu. I say 'Passed' of course since...well, officially she was around start to finish in the first venue on the list. As such, she's here with Aslla Piscu. HOORAY? You can ask about him but she'll never tell, it's too much crying!!

Carly herself is a bubbly emotional babbler who reacts really quickly and really strongly to things said around her. She would have considered running off while around the Trees, so if someone wants to have taken the role of her trailer-mate at that time to be the one that convinced her not to? Go for it! Ever since then, her contracts have more or less been focused in finding reasons to stay with the Carnival after getting attached to the place.

At the moment, Carly looks like this. Given the resemblance to bird-breath, one can likely guess why she considered running early on. She would have been working things such as the cashier during most of the early timeline, before eventually training for and joining the Scout team with the Nightrider after the Musical visit. She also however, got a position as a tailor-probably after one or two wardrobe slip-fixes were found by the Wardrobe Supervisor.

In any case, CARLY NEEDS A TRAILER-MATE! After the Vampire War, her last one ended her contract (if someone in game takes the role of her first one, this goes on the assumption that they eventually moved to a different trailer)-so now she's all alone. Personally I'd be thrilled if she ended up rooming with a Newbie-but comment if you're interested regardless, so that we can discuss!

And of course, to all Vets, comment if you want to figure out prior CR! Or in the case of TDM Newbies, if you want a canon thread. THE DOORS ARE ALL OPEN-

Joker probably would have bothered Carly a bunch during his first season in the carnival, and to that, I'm sorry, Carly. He's a busy body. Still, he might have picked up on any left over bad feelings from her once he settled in a bit, and probably has been super friendly and light hearted around her to help make things a bit easier.

Hey everyone! Newbie reporting in with Goku. He stumbled into the carnival and accidentally forgot to pay for things (mostly food items, but also entrance fee), so now he's stuck here to pay off his debt. He's not exactly happy to be here, as he's got things to take care of back home, but he'll adjust well enough.

Goku hails from a place called Shangri-la, and he's been on a long journey westward to India. They've been on the road for 2 years now, and have made it as far as Tibet. He knows a thing or two about traveling into new places and meeting new folks. He's also a youkai, but his power limiter (a crown he wears on his head) keeps him in human form. It's definitely not a good idea to deprive him of his limiter, as he might go berserk and kill you.

He's a pretty happy-go-lucky guy, easily swayed by the promise of food and friendship. He's trusting and naive, but has a pragmatic approach to things and might seem wiser than he appears because of his open perspective on things. He is also a very good fighter, so for the time being, he's on patrol duty. He's also a scout, for when the Nightriders decide to venture out into the unknowns.

No plans as of yet, except to explore the universe(s) and get to know people! I welcome all kinds of CR, both positive and negative. It's a little hard to get on Goku's bad side, unless you're quite openly malicious. He deals well with surly antisocial folks, particularly if he can tell that you're actually kind of a good person deep down inside. ;)

Brook has been roped into being a musician for the carnival after losing a rock-paper-scissors match to an employee in the most idiotic fashion possible. However, he's a very enthusiastic performer who is easily distracted and LOVES PARTIES... so it's probably fine. As a bone-afide pirate, he'll be drinking, singing, eating, chatting up pretty ladies, learning new songs, making stupid skeleton jokes, and generally making a nuisance of himself. If you need someone to liven up your shindig, Brook's your dead man!

Hey, everyone! This is Elizabeth. She's brand new to the Carnival, and actually, pretty much to the world. Imagine Rapunzel mixed with Belle, and add in a good dose of science! and you've got Liz. She spent eighteen years living in a tower being protected by a giant mechanical bird. She got out maaaaybe 12 hours before she arrived here, and she's super excited to experience everything and everyone. Oh, I should probably mention, she's also from 1912.

Liz is extremely curious and friendly. She also doesn't really pick up on a lot of social cues. So I apologize in advanced. She's looking at this whole thing like a great vacation, even though she'd rather be in Paris. She's also had nothing but time on her hands for her entire life, so she's extremely accomplished for a girl who just got outside for the first time in her life. This'll make her job as a nurse extremely interesting.

Hello, hello, I'm LA! You may see me in the discord chat from time to time under the name angrybears, which also happens to be my plurk handle. When I'm not playing around in dwrp, I'm probably off playing video games, WoW, or complaining loudly about too many Torbs in an Overwatch match (one is too many, jsyk).

As for who I've brought to Lost Carnival, that would be John Childermass, the ever unexcitable servant of Mr. Norrell from the BBC series Johnathan Strange & Mr Norrell (there's a book, too, where I will pull the occasional extra detail from once in awhile, but it is as exhaustively long as it is good). His job at the carnival is as a Magician! Since he actually is a magician! A real one, with real magic, although his spell set is fairly limited to divination (with his tarot cards) and a few shadow and illusion-related spells at this time. I'm sure that'll change, as I obsessively hoard points for magic related rewards ahaha... ha... yeah. ANYWAY, Childermass tends to be a stoic sort of character with a very dry sense of humor. He's neither particularly mean nor particularly kind and is very, very goal oriented. He's here to get what he wants. As long as they don't stand in the way of that, he'll have no problem with most people.

He also happens to be an Englishman from the early 1800s. Someone please show him how the radio works...

Regarding how he ended up with the carnival, he chose to sign on. He was trying to find a short cut to translating an important book of magic back home and inevitably concluded his card readings towards the problem were pointing him down one of the newly opened fairy roads (as fae are definitely already a thing in his canon). He had no idea he was going to the carnival until he actually got to it and so here's where he'll stay, at least until he can get that translation key.

Immediate plans are acclimating to being in a magical carnival, at least to the point where all this faerie magic will stop making him sick (he'll get over it eventually, really). Figuring out an act, too, since he's used to being a subtle person and putting on a show will be an "interesting" new thing. Long-term, well, he may as well expand on his magical knowledge while he's here, right? Transformation-wise, I have some plans for that, too, and will be aiming for a shadowy man, possibly with a few raven features.

Once upon a time there was a macaroni party boy living in 18th century Vienna who was more than a little bit of an embarrassment to his father. Pops sent him away to the Colonies in hopes he'd be straightened out by his farmer relatives. Long story short the idiot got bitten by an annoyed vampire and wound up stuck in a small Pennsylvania town for a couple centuries instead. He's not feared in his town, more thought of as some kind of mascot who's not super great at taking care of himself because he tends to do things like be lured into cornfields by sweet talking demons out to steal his mp3 player (demons in his world vary in evilness levels).

He ended up in debt to the carnival when his weakness for handsome men (thanks Joker!) and a desire for a banana plush in a Rasta hat made him play a balloon and dart game he lost horribly. NOW HE'S A CLOWN!

Mostly, Gottlieb is freaking out about how mad the townspeople will be at him for getting himself into another mess and being out of his safe bubble for the first time in a very long time. In town he had friends that would let him drink their blood (which he remains squeamish about in spite of how long he's been doing it, the sight of it conflicts him deeply) but he's expected to feed freely from the guests here. We'll see how THAT goes.

Mitsuki Izumi | IDOLiSH7 | Showman | Newbie

Hello! I'm porto, but more importantly this is Mitsuki! Mitsuki's a member of IDOLiSH7, yet another rainbow themed group of male idols. Mitsuki is one of the older members at 21 and he serves as i7's host and master of ceremonies during their shows and concerts. Outside of that he is actually not the world's most exceptional idol, which is part of why he signed on with the carnival. Offstage, Mitsuki is cheerful, enthusiastic, hard working, and small (165cm/5'5"), but he prides himself on his masculinity and will not hesitate to drop kick someone if necessary.

He's going to be a showman but he's been given some liberty to design his own show so at present I'm considering a kind of Japanese style variety show (interviews, stunts, quizzes, etc), so if your character would be interested in something like that, let me know here or privately if you'd rather! For anything else, ooc chatting, honestly excessive plurking about i7, all that sort of stuff, feel free to add me at tawnyport! Looking forward to playing with you all.

Greg Universe | Steven Universe | SFX and Lighting Repairman | Newbie

Hi all my buddies! Mr. Universe here fell into debt after shortchanging tickets at a game, and is feeling pretty low about it. He's feeling even lower since his son willingly signed a contract in order to stay with him and make sure he's looked after; what kind of worthwhile parent screws up that bad, right? Steven even used his contract so the Ringmaster will teach Greg some defensive magic, which... for most people, would be really, really rad. Greg, unfortunately, has a whole thing with magic. He's really, really squeamish about getting involved with it, and it's going to be bothering him a lot while he's at the carnival.

So, Greg's going to be pretty dour and uncomfortable starting out here, but hopefully before long people will break through that to see he's a very sweet and friendly guy. He's a former musician, but he now prefers avoiding the spotlight and making sure everyone else's show goes as smooth as possible. He's a bit of a bumbler, but trust he'll put everything he can into making all the behind-the-scenes to performances go smoothly. This guy's a roadie you can count on. Come talk to him if you need a snazzy lights stunt, something fixed, or just a level head to talk to.

Hey, everyone! Ginko here has been in the carnival for a year and a few months now, having joined back when the carnival went to the 60’s. By now he looks like this, and takes care of the carnival’s animals (including the Rodent of Unusual Size pictured above. Its name is Barfy. There is also a snake with legs). He shares a trailer with Tanyuu Karibusa, since she’s basically his sister at this point and also because they’re in agreement about the need to fill their trailer with plants.

Ginko himself is a pretty soft-spoken, well-meaning guy, though with something of a tendency toward stubbornness and a penchant for trying to help with stuff that doesn’t actually have anything to do with him. He has a tendency to get attached to people, especially children and teenagers, very quickly, so I hope any kids are ready to gain a new dad who won’t admit he’s a dad! Veterans who know him particularly well may also have noticed that Ginko isn’t particularly great at taking care of himself or at dealing with his own emotions in a way that doesn’t consist largely of ignoring them.

I do want to note that I’d like to talk to anyone with a character assigned to be a BEAST TAMER, if you have any particular animals you’d like your character to be working with!

IN ADDITION Ginko’s presence in the carnival has brought with it a number of strange creatures from his world called mushi, which not everyone can see; some basic information about mushi can be found on Ginko’s permissions post, and I’d appreciate it if people would take a look! There’s also some content warnings about Ginko’s canon there. Veterans may also have gotten sick in the past thanks to the presence of the mushi, so if you’re interested in that, talk to me and/or Tanyuu’s mun!

I'm Inigo, and I'll be here with Easel, a pleasant (if kinda-overenergetic) skeletal demon slash centaur slash cowboy from a PS2 platforming game called Graffiti Kingdom.

He came here three years ago and was signed on three years ago when he had a moment of carelessness and racked up a debt in an informal marksmanship competition with a shill, quickly found that his work quite nicely filled the void left behind by Satan no longer being in power for him to work for, and has been willingly renewing his contract ever since. And been changing, inevitably - the aforementioned centaur bit was originally due to shapeshifting, but now, he's one permanently, and he sports a halo and leaves behind temporarily-burning hoofprints. Nothing terribly wild for him - yet, at least.

His duties are divvied between patrolman and merc, and he owns each whenever he's called on to be one or the other (though he's more flat-out enthusiastic about the latter - gotta love a chance to get off the grounds and go ridin'), he spends a good chunk of his off-time on in the Gamers' Circle (if you want a bit a friendly competition, he's your man, with or without a wager involved - his one mental change so far keeps him jonesin'), and he's the type of guy who likes to at the very least be on amicable terms with his coworkers. That'll include the newbies, natch - he'll be pleased as all-get out to make your acquaintances, partners!

So! This is Susan. Susan is a half-elf from Faerun (aka the D&D Forgotten Realms setting) and... he is kind of a weirdo. The short version is, Susan has been raised in the forest by his older brother since he was really young, and so he is... let's say sheltered. But he's also very extroverted and loves talking to people - and has more than enough social skills to blend in and get what he wants almost anywhere. He's usually in charge of buying things, selling things, trading things, ordering things, asking questions, chatting people up... He's even acted as his brother's wingman quite a few times to try and get him dates. He's at his best and happiest when he's talking to people.

So here, Susan is specifically going to be doing what he does best as talker+shill+patch - and probably also trying to do basically every other job that looks like fun. Which is basically everything, because he's lived in the forest his whole life and everything that isn't trees is exciting to him!

One other important thing to note here is that, although he's physically super weak (due to being, you know, 12 years old), Susan is a powerful sorcerer. So he will probably also try to show off his magic to people... Away from things he can accidentally destroy. Because that's a thing that happens sometimes.

So that is enough rambling.

Howdy folks!! I'm here with Natsu, the rowdy protagonist from Fairy Tail, which is a pretty popular anime I'm sure a lot of people have seen pics of/from/whathaveyou. He's a loose cannon and a troublemaker to boot, so if you're looking for someone to make a mess for your muse to fix, Natsu's your guy! He was literally raised by a dragon in the woods, so he's not exactly civilized.

In case it wasn't obvious enough, Natsu's world is very high fantasy, with all sorts of fantastic creatures and REAL MAGIC!™ all over the place. Natsu himself uses magic, hence his position as a magician. He might need some help with actually planning out an act for himself, though - he's the sort who just kind of does what needs to be done and he's not so good at improvising anything very elaborate.

HELLO this is Quix, the mun also playing Sans, and the one NPCing the Ringmaster! And, I guess, I'm the mod. So there's that too.

More importantly, I'm playing STEVEN UNIVERSE, everyone's favourite Steven. Here's arriving at the carnival an signing on willingly to keep his dad company, who accidentally shortchanged a game booth and got himself in debt. Steven used his contract to get his dad some extra protection - he's not really that worried about himself! He's tough, right? He's been through way worse than this.

He's actually kind of excited to be one of the carnival's new SHOWMEN! Specifically, I think his skills lend him towards being an assistant to other show people, alongside doing some of his own acts. So if you need a lovely assistant~ to give your show some extra spice, Steven Universe is your guy!

HI GANG, I'm Harry and I'm playing Amethyst -- you might be aware I was also planning to app Nala from The Lion King but life got in the way of me getting a second app done so I'm holding off on her for now! Probably some time in the future, though c:

For now I've just got Amethyst, who's a bouncer and occasional wrestler! Despite her regular form being arguably more monstrous after nearly two years at the carnival (like this plus a gnarly stomach mouth), she does all her wrestling in the form of her alter ego, the purple puma (he still does not have a backstory).

You may know her for napping on the job, avidly devouring any food or food adjacent item she can fit into either of her mouths, and generally being kind of a hedonistic slob who hates talking about her feelings. Amethyst loves doing shenanigans so if you've got some ill advised past shenanigans in mind I am happy to assume she was involved. Stupid dares, car theft, dubious substances, whatever, she's there. She has a Thing with Peridot that folks who've been around a while may or may not be aware of, but she's loath to actually put a name on it or anything.

Losing the previous Warden hit her kind of hard and she's since signed on for an extra year of carnival work in exchange for increased physical strength, but on the whole she ain't got much qualms about being here. It's like a vacation, right!

(She probably isn't going to be as OK with it once she finds out Steven's been contracted.)

Tanyuu Karibusa | Mushishi | Makeup Artist | Veteran

Hello, new friends! I'm CaityCat bringing in Tanyuu Karibusa from Mushishi! She is a veteran of a year and a few months, and arrived during that adventure in the 60's along with her brother-in-all-but-name Ginko! She works as a Makeup Artist, so she's the one making all of you assholes look good for the crowds (now sit still so she can get this eyeliner winged properly, jfc). She looks like this, with the snake tail being a very recent addition as of a few months ago--previous to this she had to walk around with a crutch, seeing as her right leg was infested by a very old and very dangerous mushi that left it completely paralyzed. Fellow veterans probably had the pleasure of watching Tanyuu fall repeatedly on her face while she tried to figure out how to get around again.

As for Tanyuu herself, she is a kind, soft-spoken, and very polite young woman that is quite the optimist and tries to see the good in everything. She has a bit of a motherly streak to her, so any young people can probably expect to have gentle concern coming their way. Anyone she actually knows well and likes is also subject to a bit of a bratty streak, and she's a bit of a disaster when it comes to anything domestic. This woman once set rice on fire, just...don't let her in the kitchen if it doesn't involve a microwave.

Like Ginko, Tanyuu is also able to see the strange creatures known as mushi from her world, though unlike Ginko she does not attract them by her simple presence. Feel free to hit up myself or Maggie if you want to work out a previous infection that your character may have suffered--there are such lovely options as growing weeds out of your skin, going deaf, or finding any source of heat completely intolerable while unmelting snow falls all around you.

Hinawa hails from the idyllic little farming community of Tazmily, where everybody lives in harmony and there certainly aren't any dark secrets or anything. ouo She's the wife of a sheep farmer and the mother of twins (who are the protags of the game!). She's actually here BECAUSE of her kids: the carnival derailed the plot of MOTHER 3 ever so slightly by showing up right when Hinawa was supposed to die via getting crunched by a robot dinosaur. However, she escaped into the carnival grounds and asked the ringleader for help in keeping said robot dinosaur away from Lucas and Claus. Now she has to spend a year and a day separated from her beloved family, but at least they're safe right? hahahaha...ha...

Hinawa is a SHINING BEACON of incorruptible pure purity, as well as a huge country bumpkin. She has no idea what magic and technology are beyond fairy tales and maybe a water wheel. Everyone here is obviously just wearing elaborate costumes!! She is hopelessly naive and easy to take advantage of, but you wouldn't be mean to poor mama, would you? :(

She's going to be a line cook while she's here, which is good news for everyone because she's a wiz in the kitchen. She also loves taking care of people, and since she's going to be missing her kids something fierce, she'll no doubt be following everyone around and mothering them incessantly. Especially if you're a kid.

Hello everyone! I'm Saga (or Amy, whichever is fine). I'm gonna be playing Vietnam from Axis Powers Hetalia here! In the game, she's a veteran who is also a tailor, and so has some changes already. You can see the list here.

Vietnam's a resourceful and reliable type, and since she's a veteran we can definitely hash up some handwavy stuff in the game! I'll count all TDM interactions as canon too if you like! Either way, she's an old soul in a young woman's body, and she's quiet and demure, just a little bit...strong (okay she's super headstrong). Hey guys I'm Cia and I'll be playing Bonnie from Pokemon's latest series XY/XYZ! Bonnie herself is a hyperactive seven year old who adores Pokemon and is the younger sister of the Lumiose City gym leader, Clemont. Her brother is a science nerd and genius inventor, in addition to being an electric type Pokemon specialist. Her dad is also likes to dress up at night and fight crime. Needless to say, Bonnie kind of has a weird family and in turn is a wacky kid herself.

She has an electric type of her own who'll be with her, the little electric mouse Pokemon Dedenne. Dedenne is kind of a glutton and hangs out in her little side bag or on her head most of the time. Bonnie herself is completely and utterly in love with Pokemon and is going to love her role as an Animal Keeper here at the Carnival, since all she ever wants to do is take care of Pokemon. That said, there are going to be a lot of tears at first - she's never been without her brother or someone else to take care of her, even when traveling around Kalos with said brother and so she's going to be missing her family and friends a lot.

That said she's usually chipper most of the time, isn't afraid of typical "spooky" stuff and generally finds weird/creepy things cool or interesting. She's overly friendly, innocent in most respects and not afraid to chat others up either, so she'll probably be sticking her nose where she shouldn't be or asking awkward questions. Curiosity's a killer. Please adopt her. You know you'll want to.

Hello everyone! I'm Lex and I am bringing Kerubim Crépin from Dofus: The Treasures of Kerubim, an extremely fun and colorful french cartoon.

Kerubim is a life-long adventurer and thrill-seeker who just goes from one crazy escapade to the next. He is charming and friendly and always trying new things. He is also extremely, unnaturally lucky, and it influences his life a lot more than it really should. Despite being very skilled in many areas, he leaves things to chance more often than not. Kerubim is extremely competitive and loves to prove himself, and can rarely resist a bet or challenge. He joined the carnival willingly in exchange for a remarkably powerful magical artifact which is in safekeeping with the Ringmaster until his contract is up and he returns home to the World of Twelve.

Kerubim will be working two jobs at the carnival which conveniently allow him to continue putting his life in needless danger. Kerubim will be working under Sans on Patrol and Joker as a Daredevil. This means he has many coworkers and opportunities for CR. Especially you dangerous magicians and other showmen that he may attempt to recruit for his acts. I don't have a roommate situation determined at present, if you're interested let me know otherwise it will just be left to fate.
