player plot: taking the 'tropical' out of 'tropical vacation'

SNOW PROBLEM↴ So, backstory. In Atlantis, Strange picked up a cursed potion that boosts one's magical power at the expense of things like "rational decision making" and "morals." In the Celebration, Strange learned that his wife Arabella isn't actually dead, but is held captive in his world's realm of Faerie. So naturally the sensible thing to do is to chug the potion and try to summon the faerie who kidnapped Arabella despite having no idea who the faerie is in the first place. Obviously this does not work. That magical boost gives Strange enough power to summon a faerie, but instead, on Day 76 he summons an ice faerie who's a bit of a dick. Nothing actively harmful will happen to the characters, but for the entire day, the ice faerie will be hanging around, just generally causing trouble and making things inconvenient for everybody. Most of the cold effects will be hanging around the carnival but some will slip through into Alola. Notably... - It's gonna get cold! The temperature will drop from 'pleasant if balmy' to 'REALLY FRIGGEN COLD' over a span of fifteen or so minutes. It's not dangerous frostbite levels of cold, but might want to see if wardrobe has anything thick and heavy to wear. - There'll be a light snow. Not enough to make a huge igloo out of, but enough to make a small snowman or start a snowball fight with someone. - Frost and icicles cover pretty much everything. That one item that was left outside? Yeah, it's totally frozen over. - Various objects and knick-knacks of carnival members are encased in individual blocks of ice. It's magic ice, so there won't be any water damage, but have fun trying to chisel out that one shoe that's now stuck in ice. - Surprise, a lot of the liquids are frozen. Sorry about that cookhouse. - There will be various patches of slippery ground all around the carnival, perfect for comical pratfalls or accidentally falling on top of other people. Again, nobody's going to break their tailbone or anything like that, they'll just hurt their dignity. - Characters might get hit in the face with a snowball despite the fact that there's no one there to toss the snowball at them in the first place. ~Magic~, everybody. - The hot springs are now the lukewarm springs. - There's an increased level of ice Pokemon hanging around Alola! Go pet the Alolan Vulpix, they're super cute and adorable. - Worst of all, characters will have an increased tendency to speak in awful ice and snow-related jokes. That bastard stuck us with puns. These are just examples! Other appropriate winter-themed mischief can happen, just make certain that it's nothing too drastic. We're going for fun and slightly dickish over another trauma conga line. This'll last for all of Day 76, pretty much dawn til dusk. That Thursday, I'll put up an open log so everybody can get in their winter shenanigans, but totally feel free to mention it in or put up your own logs/posts/etc.! SCAVENGER HUNT↴ The Ringmaster will charge Strange with cleaning up this mess because really, it's his damn fault in the first place, they're trying to blend in and snow on a tropical island is way too conspicuous you moron. Due to the way Strange's magic works, the summoning of the ice faerie is directly tied to a candle he used in the spell: blow out the flame of the candle, the being summoned goes back to their home dimension. Strange is also a goddamn idiot who accidentally told the ice faerie this. As such, the faerie has magically hidden the candle somewhere in the carnival to gain some more time and cause some more trouble. For those not getting messed around by the faerie & winter magic, they can definitely be dragged into the Great Carnival Scavenger Hunt to find that damn candle and bring back the nice temperatures. This will probably be slightly silly because of the whole 'searching the carnival for a magically hidden candle while also dealing with everything being frozen' thing. At the end of the day they'll find the candle, Strange will return the ice faerie back to his own realm, all of the cold nonsense will vanish, and then everybody'll probably yell at Strange and not trust him with anything important ever again.
