Given that it's been a while since our last CR/plotting meme, this seemed well overdue!

This post is where you talk about what you are looking for in character relationships, and then respond to other people's posts to plot! You can be as long winded or as brief if you like - as long as you communicate what you are interested in doing.

New to this post is a 'Collective Objectives' section, which will be a toplevel below. This is for coordinating events or efforts that you want the input/organization of multiple characters on, making a big group log, or developing something have broader ramifications for the Carnival moving forward.

There is a form provided below for your convenience, but you don't have to fill everything out! It just needs to be enough information to give your fellow players an idea of what they have to work with.

Canon: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
Carnival Role: Magician & mercenary
Length of Stay: he's been here since December 2016, hell if I know how much that translates to in game time.
Skills/Powers: bullshit magic that works as the plot demands. It's mostly elemental, though Strange has other dumb tricks like scrying, limited transfiguration, travel via reflections, weather magic, more dumb tricks with mirrors, and raising the dead that one time, let's not talk about that last one. Also, he can turn into smoke. thanks, Portland.
Routine: Some variation of practices magic in the big top, practices stabbing things in the training ground, is a big ol'nerd who reads boring academic books for fun, eats all the eggs in the cookhouse, gets in everybody's way, etc. His sleep schedule's fucked to hell and back so Strange can be found around the carnival at various hours.
Current status in game: so the manor was FUN. And by fun I mean Strange ran into his friend, his wife, and his enemy on fourth wall day, drugged a child and a skeleton shortly after fourth wall day, and is currently stabbing another child in the hunt log. his current status in game is "one bad day away from being a full blown alcoholic but trying his hardest to repress it and pretend everything's fine."
Any current or future plans: trying not to become a full blown alcoholic? Strange's main future plan right now is try and refine the magic he uses to break enchantments because the best way to deal with things is to not deal with them and instead throw yourself into work. SO HEY, who wants to get magically mind-whammied for the greater good, what do you mean nobody's taking him up on his offer.

and considering that his last two successful attempts at breaking spells involved kisses, Strange is pretty solid in his belief that this is a thing he can do. so I suppose 'future plans' are 'continue being an embarrassment to the state of english magic'
IC Assistance: Strange doesn't really need anything in his life right now aside from maybe needing to talk to someone about things. HOWEVER, if your character wants to learn about magic or the fae, then Strange will happily talk their ear off about both subjects.
Desired CR: Strange is a goddamn terror that's won over a lot of people by the fact that he's a goddamn terror with a nice personality. I'd love for some negative cr or at least someone to call him out on the fact that he's an arrogant asshole who can occasionally be a headache to deal with.
Shipping Preferences: nada! Strange is married as HELL to his wife Arabella, who's not here (but she's so pretty and she's so nice and she's super sensible and smart and did he tell you just how pretty she is like his wife is smoking hot y'all and she's the best and blah blah blah)
Permissions/Opt Outs: nothing really! though, Strange doesn't believe in doors and usually goes to places via traveling through mirrors or (now that he can do it) sneaking in under cracks via smoke. If you don't want him to barge up in your room, here's a good place to note that.

When Foster stops being fucked up, he now has a pilfered book about fae and an interest IN them.

He's also actually interested in developing his magical range and prowess, and he remembers Strange as not sucking too hard. He wants to be useful, you see. (He was properly shamed by seeing Childermass in action.)

Their CR might turn negative, or it might not, but now that I'm no longer seriously ill all the time, I... won't be so chronically dropping threads and we can actually find out!

Man, Strange will be all over that book about the fae like white on rice.

And yeah, Strange will happily talk shop/help Foster out with magic/etc. They've actually got halfway decent cr in the first place (especially halfway decent by Foster standards) and Strange has actually gained a smidge of patience due to his canon update back in Greysol, so we'll see what happens!

and don't worry dude, Childermass is heckin cool, it's okay that ya can't do what he does, Strange can't do it either.

Strange might be the only person Foster will let see that book, actually. He won't even let Taako see it. But Strange strikes Foster as more of a fae authority than anyone else here (who isn't actually just a fae themselves.)

So it's probably fine, right.

But yeah LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I'm hype.

he's literally only a fae authority because he keeps fuckin summoning them, this is not an authority that Strange should be proud of (and yet he will 100% be a bit obnoxious about it if the reasons for why Foster's showing him the book come out).

He is going to end up half regretting asking about his wife but that'll be a lot of information he'll get regardless. It's a good thing he's such a good listener.

Also, they are so going to talk about that kiss.

man, no matter how often Strange tries to justify smooches with "I was trying to break a spell", he's gonna get rightfully teased about this until kingdom come.

He's learning a lot about Strange lately. It's a good thing he doesn't stay mad for long. Also he was kind of cranky but he's not gonna apologize for that rough shoulder he gave him.

Hey, don't make him smooch you properly cause Tyki has a lot of talent in that area. Yet if he ever uses him as a test subject for that he'll tease like crazy. Just don't make that mind whammy too rough or he might react negatively to it.

Man he'll regret offering to help once he realizes what Strange has decided works best but Childermass really hates how everyone keeps getting messed up. If it'll help figure out a way to avoid it in the future, he'll do it, he'll just scowl a lot in between. Just... don't do anything you can't fix, Strange >:|X (or do, if it's hilarious, because rule of funny).

all he's saying is that people need to get enchanted in the first place to see if breaking an enchantment actually works. :|

'whatever pops into your mind while in progress', tbh. Strange doesn't have that much for mental manipulation but he did turn a lady into a cat so there can be dumb transformation shenanigans instead. or even just dumb bullshit like hey, you know that important thing you've got, it's kind of invisible now, help me find it so I can put it back to normal.

I'm up for handwaving some of the previous magic lessons if you want. obviously they couldn't get much practice done in the manor because of all THAT everything, but I'm up for saying they did some practicing in Greysol.

that being said, you're in one piece Peridot, time for magic lessons to START RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN when everybody's back in the carnival (I say like Strange wouldn't be the world's most easily distracted pushover of a teacher). and yeah, he will happily talk Peridot's ear off about enchantment breaking while trying his hardest to seem like he knows what he's actually doing.

THIS IS A GIVEN but Strange and Lambert need to catch up with each other when everything's settled down aka. run circles around each others problems. They're probably launching straight into messing with that poison cure once Lambert's able to stay awake for more than a handful of hours at a time, but they gotta get their SUPER BRO TALKS in as well, eventually. you know how it goes

super bro talks can be had while Lambert's woozy thanks to the poison. HA HA, CAN'T ESCAPE PRODDING QUESTIONS IF YA CAN'T GET OUT OF BED.

granted, the most prodding question Strange has for Lambert is "that dragon thing, what the fuck" but I'm sure these two will have other heartfelt/absolutely dumb moments as well

tbh Childermass is probably a LOT BETTER than Strange would be wrt the shadow speak stuff as he actually was Winter Court back in Portland. of course, Strange is an arrogant asshole who wouldn't really admit that until he's tried (and failed!) at figuring out the book's info himself

also let's not think about the whole murder thing, have you tried coping via alcohol Carly, it's amazing

yeah, out for drinks with Strange is more like 'getting hammerdrunk and vomiting out a window of the trailer', IT WON'T BE VERY CLASSY, CARLY.

But he'll definitely be up for looking over the weird book & puzzling things out and even more bad decisions, especially now that I've put in the ac points for spell breaking. Maybe he could help clean up any inevitable messes.
