A WILD CR MEME APPEARS↴ Given that it's been a while since our last CR/plotting meme, this seemed well overdue! This post is where you talk about what you are looking for in character relationships, and then respond to other people's posts to plot! You can be as long winded or as brief if you like - as long as you communicate what you are interested in doing. New to this post is a 'Collective Objectives' section, which will be a toplevel below. This is for coordinating events or efforts that you want the input/organization of multiple characters on, making a big group log, or developing something have broader ramifications for the Carnival moving forward. There is a form provided below for your convenience, but you don't have to fill everything out! Herbert West | (scientificist) Canon: Re-Animator Carnival Role: Medic Length of Stay: He's so new he's not even set foot in the Carnival yet. Skills/Powers: No magic, but he's good at bio-sciences, and obsessed with bringing back the dead. Routine: When he gets into the carnival, he's going to be in the medic tent at all...business? Hours? And everything outside that he'll be in his trailer doing experiments cramped in the kitchenette. Every couple of days he'll irritably show up in the cookhouse at random mealtimes. On this period of time off, he'll be going back and forth to determine what things of use there are in the medical tent. He doesn't sleep so.... Current status in game: Mostly he's been trapped by the Prince and handing out onions so he's not doing GREAT. Any current or future plans: If the people working on a cure are still doing that I'd love to have him help out! He'd be really psyched about that. I also need to get him into a brain position to want to learn magic properly, if anyone can like. Describe their methods to him. Hype him up about learning it. IC Assistance: Ok, so this is the drug content warning but. I can work it out FOR him without this but he's been in withdrawal for a couple of days now and he really wants to inject reagent again. If anyone plays a character with syringe knowledge that I can set stuff up with, this would help him not stab up his entire arm. Let me know. Desired CR: I love both positive and negative CR and I am very aware that considering the kind of dude Herbert is, he's going to attract a bunch of negative. Right now, because I've just started, I'm just looking for CR generally. Shipping Preferences: Sure, but it's. Difficult? To set up? I'll absolutely rp ships and sex and so forth but Herbert is. Work-obsessed? The boxes that get ticked for him to be interested in order of importance are: interested in his work, intelligent, useful, anatomically attractive/interesting. Also he often underestimates women and just goes for dudes instead but I don't think he has a gender pref. IDK. I've just made this prohibitively difficult after being like 'sure I'd be into it'. Permissions/Opt Outs: Here's his opt out. Also, if anyone has a permissions post format thingy, I'd appreciate it. I don't have any opt outs myself, actually! I'm up for anything and don't have any surprise things that will make me uncomfy. Additional Comments: I'm EST but I work from 3 pm to 11 pm rn so I'm sorry if I tag weirdly!

"if anyone can describe their methods to him" buddy, Strange will not shut up about magic. Here's someone who can continue describing his magic in nebulous ways that'll interest/frustrate/etc. Herbert--especially considering that logically speaking, some of Strange's magic just shouldn't work as well as it does in the carnival.

I adore negative cr. Because Strange wins over a lot of people because he's eager & sincere despite the fact that he's an obnoxious arrogant asshole but that doesn't take away the fact that he's an obnoxious arrogant asshole in the first place.

Rita will be working on the antivenom too, that's one way they might be awkwardly meeting up again after their first encounter. Also, he's the medic, and she's gonna be recovering for a while, so maybe she could use some medical attention?

Also Rita is a mage who is obsessed with magic theory and formulae and will gladly go on forever about it if someone gets her started. :|b

Yeah! Papyrus heard, from specifically human sources, that humans have to sleep! What the heck, Herbert, isn't it a rule or something.


but so this isn't just a commentary threadjack;
Papyrus has some loud negative opinions about reanimated corpses. Loud, not necessarily strong. He keeps seeing people be surprised and scared of him because he looks like death to them, and the only other necromancer he knows is... kind of a downer to hang out with. Herbert, what's the deal with zombies?

He would be more than happy to explain his processes to Papyrus! Honestly he'll be kind of disappointed if anything that Pap is a different species, not a reanimated skeleton.

Sorry to disappoint, but no, he is a different species. He might have been created with science instead of the normal reproductive means, though? Depending on how the conversation with his brother goes, he may even find that out.

The last time Alphys played with syringes it went very very badly but he could probably talk her into it if all she has to do is the injection!

It's also entirely possible to mistake her for a dude at first because /gestures at her general lizardness

Yeah, don't worry, the bad decisions and playing with the nature of life and death are all Herbert! All she has to do is inject a diluted solution of reanimation fluid into a living human!

He will not phrase it like this.

They are both working on the cure so I'm sure they will! It... may be more feasible for Herbert to get Ginko to inject him than Alphys but I'll have to work that out. Obviously he'd prefer not to announce his addiction over the comms.
