Commander Syrlya

Syr also assumes he's an adult and will treat him like one because he's bad at ages as is, Sylvari don't have children don't expect him to guess this right.

Anyway, Gongenzaka doesn't have A LOT of thoughts on Syr, but what he does have on him is that well, much like Syrlya thinks of him, Gon figures Syrlya has a pretty solid head as well. Any real huge cultural differences may not even really be CAUGHT, hilariously-Gongenzaka's just seen too much shit by now to really get hung up over that, and he wasn't entirely the sort to do it before either.
While he views Syr as a more than capable coworker though, he IS definitely curious about his...particular branch of magic. He hasn't really experienced it or actually seen/heard much about it, but I imagine he'd be a bit wigged out if he heard. Mind Shit, yo.
Also it's kinda neat that you're a plant.

Really, Strange is a nerd who would fit in absolutely with the Priory or something where he can just study and geek out about magic all the time. Syrlya really appreciates him as an equal and as a reference as he tries to better understand what he can do about the magic situation in his world. And Strange's magic is really impressive! He'd clearly proud of it (or just proud in general) and Syrlya thinks he has every reason to be. He can see where maybe the 'combat' part needs more work and will be happy to engage in more stupid mage fights to practice, but the Manor situation proves that Strange's real benefit to the nightrunners is his utility.
He doesn't know much about Strange personally and hasn't thought to ask, since he's settled first and foremost into a professional working relationship with Strange. It's not intimate but he does trust Strange to have his back if he needs it and he'll look out for him in turn, and then they can go back and magic theory more.

Scout told him a bit about that human loving, though, so while he hasn't noticed anything it is making him wonder what 9S's side of the story is, since he knows they've had their alien problem and maybe there was a, misunderstanding. THAT CAN BE DAMAGING but right now he trusts 9S, and he's willing to entertain his questions since he finds being an andriod just as curious.
Also he's been 100% misled by 9S's machinism and thinks they're like, dragon minions or something instead and are truly mindless extensions so good job there I guess.

So Syrlya's been a soldier and Commander and understands rank and order, so Lambert being his direct supervisor in what's basically the carnival military colors his interaction from the start. Lambert's his boss, he needs to not just follow orders but understand what they're doing and provide the best of his skillset to the operation. He takes the Nightrider very seriously! And Lambert's actually trusted his judgement already, so there's a solid bond for working together to keep the carnival safe.
But his Marshall in Tyria was also one of his best friends so at the same time it's not awkward to get roped into weird fae tasting games or dancing. Lambert's much ruder, however, which Syrlya is realizing he's gotta drop a level of politeness to deal with. He doesn't actually mind the friendly shade though.
He doesn't really equate Lambert to Trahearne, but he's a little more acute about not failing to save Lambert in the same way. He expects Lambert to be able to take care of himself the same way he's trusted to compete his missions, but he's more dedicated to his safety of something does go south.
So congrats on that easily earned loyalty, even if they aren't near as close because letting two commanding officers die is a bad rep.

NOW GRANTED Syr doesn't know Childermass well outside of working context, but also he's learned very quickly that Childermass is a very efficient Ann's attentive person who's probably well suited for his job and, more importantly, easy to work alongside. It's kind of like some of his Pact connections, he'd be some sort of high ranking Whispers character who Syrlya would work with as Commander if this was Tyria.
So there's default respect that he knows what he's doing, and he's good at what he does. Plus he's shown he's attentive to people's actual troubles and protected the servants. He's 'means to an end' but not brutish or needlessly cruel, so Syrlya definitely takes him as someone whose morality is more good aligned than not. Maybe not saving babies all the time but definitely someone who will have his back, which is important to have.

I mentioned earlier but Syrlya is awful at judging the ages of other races unless it's like. Obviously Young or Obviously Old and teenagers don't fit into that. He thinks she's an adult?? A young adult? He's not sure, but she's a fellow nightrunner so he's gonna treat her like one, that soldier life.
She seems very passionate, and he can appreciate that--he just hopes it doesn't cloud her judgement when it comes down to it, because she's very observant. That's no doubt why she's a scout after all.

The talking skeleton thing is weird, but he's self-aware enough to know that a taking plant is also weird. He's just not sure if Papyrus and Sans are liches or something else?? Actually being undead isn't a positive state of body to him.
He is glad that Papyrus took him seriously. He seems like a nice guy who's trusting the nightrunners to save his brother, so he's trying hard not to let him down.
