So Syrlya's been a soldier and Commander and understands rank and order, so Lambert being his direct supervisor in what's basically the carnival military colors his interaction from the start. Lambert's his boss, he needs to not just follow orders but understand what they're doing and provide the best of his skillset to the operation. He takes the Nightrider very seriously! And Lambert's actually trusted his judgement already, so there's a solid bond for working together to keep the carnival safe.
But his Marshall in Tyria was also one of his best friends so at the same time it's not awkward to get roped into weird fae tasting games or dancing. Lambert's much ruder, however, which Syrlya is realizing he's gotta drop a level of politeness to deal with. He doesn't actually mind the friendly shade though.
He doesn't really equate Lambert to Trahearne, but he's a little more acute about not failing to save Lambert in the same way. He expects Lambert to be able to take care of himself the same way he's trusted to compete his missions, but he's more dedicated to his safety of something does go south.
So congrats on that easily earned loyalty, even if they aren't near as close because letting two commanding officers die is a bad rep.
