| THE HUNT 2.0↴ After two days in the remains of the Heartstone Manor, a plan of action has been brought to the Ringmaster's attention. Specifically, a plan to challenge the Prince to a contest, with the hopes that the carnival's spinning of the situation will enable them to defeat the Prince's forces in one fell stroke.
It's fairly common knowledge at this point that one of the Prince's captives, the Warden, was returned to the carnival after having his True Name stolen - a magical practice that can strip a being of its identity and bind them helplessly to however possesses their Name. In this case, it was the Prince stealing his name - and it was in order to make a point. Unless the Ringmaster gives in an settles, the same fate will eventually befall all of the Prince's captives, and when taken to the extreme, life without one's True Name can be considered a fate worse than death. Based on servant testimony, a more gentle version of this binding ritual has been used on every one of the Prince's servants, depriving them of their name and thus ensuring absolute control over them.
Fortunately, this has opened up an opportunity for some trickery. The intent is to challenge the Prince to a contest - if the carnival wins, he will give them back a single True Name, and if the Prince wins, the Ringmaster will return the Blue Rose. Naturally, the Prince will be anticipating that they plan to ask for the Warden's name back, given that several members have been greatly affected by what he's been reduced to. Of course, in reality, the carnival intends to exploit this in order to gain something much greater: the True Name of the being that makes up the body of the Manor itself - a creature that is known to the servants to be alive and with a will, but trapped by the same restrictions they are. If they can trick him into giving over the Manor's name, it will allow them to have it abolish his fortress, and hopefully defeat him handily.
As of the start of Day 178, the Ringmaster will present the offer of this challenge to the Prince, and after some discussion, they will work out the specifics of their faerie challenge. It is to be a second Hunt - this time, with captives from the carnival turned into beasts and hunted, instead of former servants.
►THE AGREEMENT:
- The Prince will take [however many of the captives OOCly volunteer] and transform them into beasts, within parameters that he and the Ringmaster have decided upon. Much like during their stay in in the Manor, they will be released into a conjured forest with their minds fogged to behave defensively or aggressively. The carnival contestants will have one hour and one minute to kill all of these beasts, and will bring them to the Prince afterwards. If this is accomplished, the carnival will win. If they fail, the Prince wins.
- After being brought to the Prince, the captives turned prey will be revived, so they will not remain permanently dead. However, they will still technically belong to the Prince until they are taken back by other means. Any attempt to steal them away during the contest will result in the Prince winning.
- No offensive, trapping, or tracking magical abilities are permitted to be used. Use of magical abilities will also give the victory to the Prince. Instead, they must use traditional weapons, such as swords, spears, and archery. Passive abilities like the following are allowed: innate superstrength, innate dexterity or speed, healing abilities, enhanced senses that aren't ESP, and defensive abilities used for self-protection. Mounts are permitted, as long as they also don't use any barred magical abilities.
- The carnival's goal is to kill all of the captives turned into beasts, and then return them to the Prince, in exchange for the name of the Manor. Everyone will be told this is the intent before the contest begins, and they will all be aware that the victims will be brought back to life afterwards. The Prince believes the carnival workers are too cowardly to kill even with that caveat, and has his own agenda in terms of accepting the challenge.
- Captives who are currently being held in the dungeon are viable tributes to be used as prey in this contest. Please confirm your desire to participate on the list down below before joining in.
The log will be posted tomorrow. The log has been posted.
