He's from a Lovecraft adaptation from the 80s called Re-Animator and he's basically your classic mad scientist. Morally grey. Raises the dead. Gets immediately attacked by the dead he's just raised every time and continues to do it anyway with zero precautions. You know, the usual.

He's also a tiny (5'7") 26 year old medical student who is now your only officially trained Medic. You're welcome, Carnival!

One of my best friends introduced me to Re-Animator years and years ago and we always joke about how great/hilariously awful Herbert West would be in a jamjar setting. I'm super looking forward to seeing what shit he gets up to.

Also I don't think I introduced myself, I'm Possum btw. Peridot is my only character here and even though I've been super slow with the ball threads I hope we can get some more CR going in the future (icon kw relevant) :')

Omfg THE FACT THAT HERBERT IS THE ONLY DOCTOR IN THE CARNIVAL RN IS. TRULY TERRIFYING TBH I hope he gets that supervisor position. Peridot doesn't have much reason to go by medical v. often but if they're both supervisors then they kind of have to deal w/ each other :')

I mean honestly, it's p terrifying to Herbert also. He's going to have to do the actual resuscitation and first aid garbage he'd usually just leave to Dan. Where is Dan to fob off interpersonal interaction on when you need him, truly.

Anyway YES that is true and would be excellent.

I hope he's looking forward to meeting the skeletons in residence, and being disappointed/intrigued when he learns they are not in any way reanimated skeletons.

It's disappointing because he doesn't know how to perform surgery on a living dust skeleton.

I imagine "magic" isn't a satisfactory answer here, but don't ask them how to do surgery on themselves, probably neither knows.

Magic is the least satisfactory answer and he might ask anyway. He's the medic after all, gosh.

I've got Scout, a young Jedi, and Julien, a two-bodied bird person. Not sure how interesting either of them would be to Herbert but hey!

And it's sometimes hard to tell with Herbert but he'll at least be somewhat fascinated by Jedi powers/one person with two bodies.

There's a lot of weird interesting things to gawk at here, after all! Scout's powers are pretty minimal and she doesn't talk about them, but she's also pretty clearly changed. If not nearly as dramatically as some of the others!

Got any potential changes for yours in mind?

Yeah, he's gonna want to try and work out a scientific reason for all the changes.

I was thinking like. Maybe peeled away sections of skin in parts like anatomy models. Green blood. Unsure about other things.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get inspiration as I go! I'm not even sure of my ideas in conjunction with each other...green blood would kind of ruin the effect I'd be going for with the flesh thing. I'm sure more exposure to other people's stuff will help too.
