Maybe it's by virtue of being one of the first people Zangetsu met when he came to the carnival, or maybe it's because he's just such an interesting person compared to most of the people Zan has encountered through Ichigo, but he genuinely likes Gon a lot. In his own Zangetsu-y way. The fact that he feels guilty about taking that arm, and not just because it technically belongs to the Ringmaster, speaks more than anything I can type. He sees potential in Gon that he'd like to cultivate. He's charmed and amused by his weird way of talking and admires his FIGHTING SPIRIT!!

Zan was actually popcorning the Supervisor Monster Madness Showdown with Ichigo and he was talking about Lambert and Sans and he said something literally along the lines of "Lambert is the Nightrider and he.... I'm not really quite sure what he does" and Ichigo was like "Rides at night probably?"

Lambert is someone Zangetsu wants to fight, to be honest, just to get a better feel of him. Overall Zangetsu likes Lams ok SO GOOD FOR YOU, LAMBERT

You're his assigned boss, Childermass, so Zangetsu respects you. Because he respects the Ringmaster. But if that weren't the setup, it would not be the case. He thinks Childermass is sort of lame, too uptight, and full of himself. There's no doubt that he's powerful, but he's not the kind of powerful that Zangetsu sees as worthwhile. That doesn't mean he's unwilling to work with him, of course. He is nothing if not pragmatic-- and willing to take advantage of people.
