Strange honestly admires Yuya's dedication to saving everybody, even if he knows it isn't all that practical. For all of Strange's "blah blah I'm an amazing magician", his priorities generally lined up to one or two people (ex: defeat the Gentleman just so he can save Arabella). For Yuya to be this normal kid and to still have this all powerful desire to help save everybody despite the fact that he's just a normalass kid is something that Strange simultaneously admires, is annoyed by, and is ashamed of the fact that he doesn't have that.
Yuya's another person who Strange thinks of as a kid more than anything else, but he doesn't have the same MASSIVE GRIPPING BAGGAGE that he does wrt Steven. So there's still this little bit of Strange trying to watch his words and trying not to fuck things up and keep it so Yuya likes him but like, at the same time, Yuya wasn't the one who he tried to kidnap and if Portland Strange could manage positive cr with Yuya, then that's SUCH A GOOD SIGN for Strange & his future.
I think that Yuya meeting Arabella at the fourth wall is just going to do wonders for their friendship because hey, here's someone who's actually met Arabella, who knows how amazingly awesome she is, who knows just what a friggen sap Strange is, and can probably get why Strange is trying to hide the fact that he's a bit of a wreck post manor nonsense.

Though Strange does kind of wonder just when he's going to drive poor Syrlya crazy, just because Syrlya seems like a sort of 'look at me, I am so very calm and collected, I have all my shit together' sort of person and Strange 100% isn't. As such, the likelihood that he'll try and coax Syrlya into doing something dumb is fairly high—and Strange is fairly certain Syrlya won't exactly respond well in kind. Buuuuut they'll fight that battle when they get there.

Anyway he's also five with less life experience than he acts because it's all War so coaxing him into dumb shit is gonna be so easy, do it. Between Strange and Tyki he's in for a lot of ruffled feathers.
