WHAT A RIDE....

So Carly's a little mixed feelings here and a lot of that I think is because of who used to be her boss. As a coworker, the time was kinda short after all. Mostly she knew him as someone who could definitely pull the Merc part when needed, but also 'oh god we need to do the other job too plz'. Lambert as her BOSS was an immediate step up in terms of just 'cool friends' from her perspective. This sort of happens when you replace a lady who would fire eyeballs on the regular.

In any case, thanks to how they worked as boss and 'underling'-thank you LoK for the gif-Carly came to know Lambert as more a friend than her boss. That's the sort of relationship she classified it as, and that's arguably how it's remained. She knows he's a good-even great fit-for Nightrider, though she does sometimes worry if maybe he's a little toooooo chill about things like making sure people use a pokedex (IT'S IMPORTANT, LAMBERT!), but at this point things have gone to shit in a handbasket so many times that well.

She kind of values that attitude of his. It's the kind of attitude that keeps good spirits in the air, and since she's worked at his side, she knows that even if more MINOR things get passed along, that's in part because everyone else is already covering that. He's got better shit to do (She thinks).

That all came before the very, VERY intense conversation before the Manor though. After the Manor, after their talk, that friendliness has taken a blow. And there was nothing that could prevent that, honestly; things were intense, and they knew it would be intense. And Carly herself feels out of place in all of that. She knows Lambert is right for the job, but her heart also wants to protect the emotions of others, and at the same time her mind screams that she herself isn't right for this. Lambert of course in his own way basically told her to shut up and get over it, but she still...Hasn't, not really.

With the event going as it was, she's been trying to default to how things were before that, but now with Lambert kidnapped? She feels like she's failed. She feels like she didn't take those words to heart enough. 'Be ready for everything' didn't happen, and instead she sort of....Did the opposite and killed someone, technically.

It is, right now at least, spurring her to REALLY fight though so. Good job?

She'll probably get really dumb and cry and try to hug him after this before giving him an awkward nod and thumbs up or something instead.

While also maybe asking if he wants a good long drink because God Damn this was stressful and she'd really like things to calm back down again.
