so this just continues to prove that Strange has shit taste in friends. Because somehow, of all people, Lambert's become his best friend at the carnival.

Part of this is because for all his poshness, Strange got along GREAT with team peninsula and a lot of the traits of team peninsula can be mapped onto Lambert. He's got experience getting along with gruff stabby soldier types and he's got experience getting along & dealing with people who try to push him past his limits and make him do the impossible (thanks, Wellington). So then here's this grumpy stabby soldier dude who shows up at the carnival, deals with Strange's nonsense when he's drunk, lets him show off at the Celebration, and then agrees to teach him how to fight? That's an amazing first impression and it only gets better from there. And it also leads to Strange tolerating all of Lambert's attempts to force him into being a better magician and better mercenary because alright, he's done this before, at least he's not trying to move a forest while being shot at.

But he is just ride or die for this friendship. Lambert's a swell dude, even if he does default to shouting and stabbing as his only options, and so Strange trusts his judgement on a lot of things. He kind of wishes that Lambert would talk more about himself and his past but like, Strange knows enough about the sad dad backstory and how it is completely awful being a witcher that he wouldn't be as nosy about Lambert's past as he would be with regards to other subjects.

Plus, they're both idiots and they work on the same idiot wavelength and share a mutual appreciation for getting drunk and giving each other shit, but still having each other's back despite boneheaded decisions from both ends.
