Now that you've had a week to plan, this is the official role call post for the AU. Please reply to whatever header your character is included in with a summary of their role in Portland, with your character's name in the post subject. You can just copy and paste summaries used in the plotting post if you like, though for the same of mod plotting I would ask that you name and bold any of the following in your descriptions:
Organizations: If your character is in a group or organization of any kind, please bold it! This will be important for the dispensing of IC clues and NPC attention.
NPC Connections: If your character has a powerful NPC of any kind that they are connection to, please list and bold them. The mods will be writing some of these NPCs into the metaplot, and we can't do that if we don't know they exist!
Meetup Points: If your character runs or is affiliated with anything that could be considered a supernatural hangout, it would be useful to make them easy to find, for the sakes of people who want to know what kind of places will be available in Portland for their characters to hang out.
Confirming your concepts in this post is not mandatory, but I would super appreciate anyone who does. If you do not reply to this post, your character will not be tied into the metaplot. Additionally, I will give everyone who does reply a +2 AC point bonus to their next activity check, per character they reply with.
Before he was even born, things were complicated. His (now deceased) mother, a warlock, was infertile. So she appealed to her patron, Ignatius, Lord of Conflagration, Peer of the Rose Court, a powerful and high-ranking fire fae in the service of the court, who in turn invoked a favor from the Rose Queen, rendering mommy dearest fertile again. What Iggy didn't share was that the price for this would be her first-born child.
When Axel was born, Iggy's servants stole him away; his mother's fire magic was useless against them, and for fighting back, breaking the contract, Ignatius stripped her of all the gifts he had provided. She and Axel's father, a musician and owner of a record store, later died in a car crash, but not before leaving what little they had to the son they had barely even named, so if he ever escaped he would have at least something.
In Ignatius's (admittedly scant) care, Axel grew from infancy. He was taught to read and told stories of the human world by an older changeling, and always wanted to go there, but could not breach the flames surrounding Ignatius's demesne. He warped over time, ears pointing, his hair burning away and being replaced by fire that trailed down his back, short dragonfly-like wings of thin flame spreading from it, and his eyes taking on an unearthly glow. However, when he was 14, something changed.
In order to pay back his debt to the Rose Queen, Iggy gave Axel to her after two 7-year cycles. It was under her care that he met Ginko, and learned that the fire that was a part of him could aid their escape, and escape they did. That was 13 years ago.
After escaping, Axel was found by the prototype of the Changeling Network, and sent to the Sanctuary's prototype outpost in Portland. From there, he was sent to a foster family who knew about the supernatural, who were also foster parents to Scout, and grew up in their care. They helped track down his birth certificate via his fingerprints and name. He went to high school, and moved out afterwards to live in the rooms above the music shop his birth parents left him (with his foster parents' support), as it was nearer to his university. He majored in business, and reopened the shop. It's still running, with the aid of some college students, even as he studies for his master's degree in psychology.
Axel is a serial dater. He has mundane exes he doesn't see anymore, but also has dated Ash, Ginko, and Foster in the past. He is still tied to the Changeling Network and, to a lesser extent, the Sanctuary. His music shop, Portland Classic Records, is a safe haven for any changeling that needs to lay low for a while. He is also a regular at Lambert's cat cafe.
