Hullooooo! My name is Kates and I'm a newbie here at the game! I'm bringing in a different 1800s British magician: Jonathan Strange from the BBC series Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell (there's also a book! The book is also good but literally 800 pages.) Strange is generally a pretty good guy, even if he does have a worrying tendency to think he's hot shit, is super impatient & impulsive, is WAY TOO DEAD SET on summoning a fairy, and is perfectly willing to fudge the lines of respectability should the situation call for it.

Uuuuuuunfortunately, he's coming right from a canon point where A: he has deliberately driven himself mad and B: nobody's told him about the fact that making deals with fairies'll mess you up. So sorry Carnival, you'll have to deal with an erratic, distracted, slightly asshole magician until the madness wears off. Shove him off on Childermass, he'll be useful at dealing with Strange's nonsense (maybe/hopefully/until he gives up and shoves Strange to the metaphorical wolves)

He's a newbie at the carnival and he'll be working as a magician (this'll be fun! his magic is naturally showy to begin with!) as well as a mercenary (this is not fun, war & fighting really sucks). And I'd like to kindly direct everybody's attention to Strange's permissions post because he's a bit ridiculous when it comes to the magic he knows, and while a lot of it doesn't really affect people, some of it like magical creeping and magical summoning totally would. I'm super pumped to be in the game and can't wait to thread with all y'all!
