He's recognize that the king has the same name, and that this king also has lots of daughters, and that the Sea Witch has a lot of similarities to Ursula. Besides that, it's pretty much its own city with its own culture. It's kind of like its a distant retelling of the same story, like movies based on mythology and the like.
