[Syrlya has his doubts he'll make it ten minutes.]

Aside from me, who in the carnival do you trust the least?

Preempting the most obvious answer? [He was totally going to say Strange.] Probably the Ringmaster.

Really! [ well, he's surprised! ] I didn't expect that, but I do see your reasoning. Thanks to certain events, I don't fully trust her as well.

[chronosynthesis]

... All right, humor me. What do you think my reasons for not trusting her are?

[Because his faith in Strange being able to empathize enough with him to actually guess that explanation is in the negatives.]

She only tells us things when they're convenient to her. Something like the fact that she's wanted by both fae courts should have been something told to us upfront. Noncombatants have found themselves in danger thanks to her inability to be upfront.

As for you specifically...I have a feeling she didn't tell you much about the Blue Rose before you were tasked to use it to slay the Prince.

She was the one who explained to me how to transform it into a blade, among other abilities. [He tried not too tap too much into it at the time because, you know, extremely powerful magical artifact.] It wasn't until Steven attempted to commune with it that we realized how deeply the mirrors could change someone.

Anyway, the reason for my lack of trust in her is because she is short-sighted, careless and without any real resolve to contend with her enemies or assure the safety of the people she is responsible for. The plan to pursue the miracles has never had any direction, and we were not recruited based on our ability to function as an army.

Admittedly, I was one of the ones in favor of searching for the Miracles at the start. But that was before we learned the extent to which the Courts hated the Ringmaster.

[chronosynthesis]

I do not even consider going after the miracles to be a terrible idea in and of itself. Especially after finding the first one only solidified their existence for everyone. But there was little idea how to actually use them to protect the carnival. And she knew that we were being pursued by the Huntsman in addition to the Courts! There should have been preparations with the expectation we would be found so that we could escape.

[It's becoming a bit of a rant with the way Syrlya's gesturing around, but he's so frustrated. They knew the hunt was coming, so he doesn't understand why she wasn't ready to take them and go, and instead proceeded to... panic and split, or something, blocking them from the safety of the carnival completely.

This stuff is why he doesn't relax.]

That's one of the reasons why I trust Ignatius, [ Strange explains, just falling into the bitching and moaning with Syrlya because oh my god, same hat. ] He knew as much about the Huntsman as we did. And yet when the time came and the Ringmaster literally fell apart, he pulled himself together and tried to protect us as best he could. He's done more for keeping us safe than she has.

[chronosynthesis]

Just one of them? [Is that teasing in his tone.]

Yes, despite everything he chose to stay as our ally even though he had little reason to invest in the whole Carnival's protection... I admit, I hadn't expected it.

I did. He came back for me when I was captured in Eden. And considering how the carnival acted to save him when he was captured, I think Ignatius views all of us as worthy of protection, not just me.

[chronosynthesis]

Well, I would rather have someone like him on our side than against it.

Hm... how do you really feel about Ignatius now? [This game is for bullying.] Personally.

Mostly? Vindicated. Thanks to that Polaris nonsense, I haven't gotten enough opportunity to say 'I told you so'—which I fully intend to do so, by the way. [ he motherfuckin TOLD YOU SOOOOOOO. ]

From the start I said that Ignatius wasn't like other fae. He respected me, he wasn't sadistic, and most importantly, he could be trusted. I put my trust in him and gave him a chance, even when other carnival members thought I was mad or enthralled. His actions have proved my point. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty and proven just what a wonderful, caring, honest sort of man he is.

Of course, I do wish that his aspect hadn't changed. Ignatius may say that Creation is an impartial force or what have you, but I still think it's rather stupid. [ forces of nature can be dumb, that's the story and he is sticking to it. ]
