OKAY so like. It's probably pretty evident to almost everyone that Ginko honestly has a huge soft spot for kids, like he gets attached to people easily in general AND is pretty protective of children, so practically every time he encounters a child he just Adopts immediately. REIRA IN PARTICULAR has the additional advantage of working with him, AND strikes him as a pretty shy nervous kid, which, boy is THAT familiar h a h a h a. He's probably got some suspicions that she's ended up in a PRETTY SHITTY situation before she got to the carnival, but since he doesn't want to push or anything he's just trying to like... help/support her however he can. It's also just nice to have someone around who he can enthuse to about the animals and who he's pretty sure won't judge him for talking to them like they're people tbh.
In work-related news, he's been working on giving her more jobs to do since she's so good with the animals, though obviously he's not gonna ask anything physically taxing of her. She does however definitely get to do stuff like grooming the smaller animals and Providing Additional Enrichment (read: playing with them), and he has her help out with the bigger jobs he figures she might enjoy.
