AU ROLE CALL↴
Now that you've had a week to plan, this is the official role call post for the AU. Please reply to whatever header your character is included in with a summary of their role in Portland, with your character's name in the post subject. You can just copy and paste summaries used in the plotting post if you like, though for the same of mod plotting I would ask that you name and bold any of the following in your descriptions:
- Organizations: If your character is in a group or organization of any kind, please bold it! This will be important for the dispensing of IC clues and NPC attention.
- NPC Connections: If your character has a powerful NPC of any kind that they are connection to, please list and bold them. The mods will be writing some of these NPCs into the metaplot, and we can't do that if we don't know they exist!
- Meetup Points: If your character runs or is affiliated with anything that could be considered a supernatural hangout, it would be useful to make them easy to find, for the sakes of people who want to know what kind of places will be available in Portland for their characters to hang out.
Confirming your concepts in this post is not mandatory, but I would super appreciate anyone who does. If you do not reply to this post, your character will not be tied into the metaplot. Additionally, I will give everyone who does reply a +2 AC point bonus to their next activity check, per character they reply with.
Concepts are due May 31st. |
⇨ UNDEAD
Tamaki
When he gets lonely or agitated he tends to throw things around and make a big mess to try and get people to pay attention to him, so rumors that the dorm is haunted have probably spread even among normal students. He especially likes to knock things off shelves in the kitchen, since he's bitter that he always feels hungry but cannot eat. Other than throwing things, he cannot directly touch or hurt people.
Occasionally he is visited by psychopomps like Sans who try to get him to move on, but he very stubbornly does not want to. He would rather stay in this world, where there are plenty of other people, even if they can't all see him.
Maybe at some point Lambert will let him possess a pudding plushie and then he can travel around to more places, but for the start he is tied to the dorm.
Noboru Gongenzaka
For the last few decades, Gongenzaka has settled here in Portland, in an apartment building filled with supernaturals...not that he's aware of it. He lives with his puppy, 'Belle' that he recently adopted, and works in Biohazardous Waste Disposal, with a company that contracts itself to various hospitals; because of this, he met the zombie, Sherlock, and ever since the zombie figured him out, he's been able to obtain fresher blood from the fringe ends of blood donations rather than skimming out from the trash he's disposing of.
Despite being so old, Gongenzaka is only truly aware of his strength, and speed; while his bat tail lends to the fact that he'll be able to spawn bat wings with focus, he's never given it a shot. And really, why should he? In his spare time, he goes to libraries and occasionally game stores-he goes back to his apartment, closes the curtains, and either reads or plays a game or two on his computer (Yes he has a computer; he might TALK like an old man, but he's to date in other things!)...
...But now that he has a pooch that needs walks, he might just get out a little more...
Gon's also been trying to learn magic, ever since assuming his healing factor was such a thing. He's managed to 'learn' one spell-a Beacon spell, which focuses his energy to locate supernaturals around him at the cost of revealing himself. Oops.
BONUS EDIT: Gongenzaka has a mild connection to Yuugo! Or was that 'Hugo'...
Basically, since if a body is fresh enough and in the morgue fast enough, it's still good for blood drinking, Sherlock occasionally provides Gon's blood That Way. Because of this, Gongenzaka actually drained that Jerry guy that 'Reina' blames Yuugo for the death of-and haha, well, Jerry has a ghost.
Because of that, people might notice a ghost stalking Gongenzaka from a few hundred feet back....
Jimmy
His family moved on, but Jimmy himself was left behind. His primary haunts will be the hospital and the river that his family was knocked into. But he'll occasionally go anywhere there's lots of people, but most of the time he'll be in those two locations. (The hospital waiting room staff all know who he is. Jimmy wanders in and sits for a while, until one of the nurses comes out and tells him that there's been no change and he can come back tomorrow.)
Jimmy also.... doesn't quite know that he's dead yet. He knows that something's wrong and missing, but he thinks it's his family, not that the Carnival stopped in a bad spot. He's okay as long as nobody points out that he's dead. (Theoretically, showing him his and his family's graves would be enough to send him on, but they're in Pontiac, Illinois, and his ghost is in Portland.)
Sherlock Holmes
Born in Sussex in the late 1850s, he found a home in London and became a consulting detective. He achieved a modest level of local fame, nothing to the extent of how well he is known in his original world, but enough that someone with moderate interest in historical crime would know who he was.
Eventually, he was lured to the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland by his archenemy, an evil maths professor who was dead set on proving himself to be the cleverest man in the world, setting up murderous games to lure in other geniuses to kill them. In 1893, Sherlock grappled with him at the Reichenbach Falls, but both fell over the Falls.
It turns out the Professor was attempting to learn the secret of prolonging life, and used Sherlock's dead body in a magical experiment in the woods off of the river. Sherlock's soul was bound to his body in a shoddy way, and while his experiment was somewhat a success, he tossed Sherlock in the river to eventually decay while still being conscious, as a last bit of gleeful revenge. Helen found Sherlock before too much damage could be done, but the patch-up job on his zombie self was horrific to the human psyche, and she repaired the damage and anchored him properly, and also wiped his memory to avoid trauma. His 'rebirth' thus remained a mystery to him for years, even though he knew Helen must know the truth.
Sherlock continued his detective work, going on crime-solving adventures with Helen, as well as assisting with her London Sanctuary and helping found the Portland Sanctuary.
By the time the current year rolled around, he was more than a century old and in constant need of repair. He retained none of his original limbs, opting to use prosthetics, but mostly other people's limbs, muscle, skin and bits and bobs from the hospital morgue where he currently works as a forensic pathologist (basically he does what Molly Hooper does from his canon). He pretty much has full run of the Morgue and fills in for whatever is needed morgue-wise because most people would gladly let a zombie deal with the dead since they don't have to worry about it themselves. Or the smell. He's still a consulting detective and is often hired by the Coroner to determine causes of death, as he's an expert. He would have gotten the proper degrees at some point for this job too, since he's had quite a bit of time to himself. He assists Gon with his vampiric needs by letting him drain bodies and granting him access to the blood bank and waste-blood that isn't usable for humans.
He also keeps weapons and guns inside a container in his mostly empty torso.
He's led a quiet life since leaving England and most people don't remember Sherlock Holmes, despite having been semi-famous in the turn of the century. He's faced entirely too much discrimination against the dead, and doesn't want to risk getting that famous again as it's tedious. So he quietly solves mysteries in Portland and helps Helen with the Sanctuary. He's probably well-known among the dead, as he's met many ghosts through the morgue, like Tamaki and Jimmy. There may be a loose information network of sorts between the dead folk he knows, as he can get clues and information about murders quite easily this way. He also uses Allen's homeless network for information. He hangs out at the Crossroads and gets info from the seedy underbelly there too. He knows Zecora from the hospital. He's probably known among anyone that's been to the Sanctuary, like Sans.
His body is a mess by now, a patchwork job of replacement parts, and he has no idea how or why he's still around. However his head is still in fairly good shape, and he only looks gray and pale, with dark circles under his near-white, frosted eyes. He wears gloves and his long coat to hide everything else.
He tries to use febreeze a lot.
The Professor is still out there, biding his time, as he became a lich with the information he'd learned from his original experiment. He occasionally throws Sherlock and Helen the odd impossible mystery, but he's become even more twisted over the years, and would love nothing more than to ruin their lives.
Lars
Lapis found Lars while he was bumming around because he attempted to steal her snake with the intention of killing and draining it. She kicked his ass, then took pity on him, because it was clear he was the most pathetic vampire in existence. She denies his supernatural qualities, which works great for someone as cagey and self loathing as Lars. So he lives with her while they both pretend he isn't clearly a vampire, and he occasionally steals a jar of blood that she claims is for art or some other freaky gross esoteric thing. Lapis freaks him out. This has been going on for about 1.5 months. Lars works graveyard at a shitty Dunkin Donuts to pay his half of the rent and sometimes bums around Axel's music store.
Lars is not a healthy looking vampire, and when pressed will just bitterly and dryly joke that he's a meth addict. Hooray!
Other little extraneous details aka I'm tired and lists are easier:
- Lars babysat Steven a few times before he went missing
- Lars is very weak, so thematically, remains useless
- Lars used to be Lauren's classmate and they were invisible losers. At some point, Sadie not being a thing in this universe?, Lars's dam of loneliness and confused teenaged sexual frustration cracked that resulted in Lars making out/fooling around with Lauren at school shortly before he dropped out. THE SHAME RESULTING IS PROBABLY PART OF THE REASON HE DROPPED OUT. A larger percentage than what makes sense in comparison to turning into a vampire.
- Lars also kind of longs for his sire, but has no idea where they are and they don't seem to give a shit about him or else he would have some sort of clue. Just a ceaseless sense of yearning for someone he doesn't know/ruined his life.............
- possibly met Ginko while being homeless a few times
- dumb and scared
