AU ROLE CALL↴
Now that you've had a week to plan, this is the official role call post for the AU. Please reply to whatever header your character is included in with a summary of their role in Portland, with your character's name in the post subject. You can just copy and paste summaries used in the plotting post if you like, though for the same of mod plotting I would ask that you name and bold any of the following in your descriptions:
- Organizations: If your character is in a group or organization of any kind, please bold it! This will be important for the dispensing of IC clues and NPC attention.
- NPC Connections: If your character has a powerful NPC of any kind that they are connection to, please list and bold them. The mods will be writing some of these NPCs into the metaplot, and we can't do that if we don't know they exist!
- Meetup Points: If your character runs or is affiliated with anything that could be considered a supernatural hangout, it would be useful to make them easy to find, for the sakes of people who want to know what kind of places will be available in Portland for their characters to hang out.
Confirming your concepts in this post is not mandatory, but I would super appreciate anyone who does. If you do not reply to this post, your character will not be tied into the metaplot. Additionally, I will give everyone who does reply a +2 AC point bonus to their next activity check, per character they reply with.
Concepts are due May 31st. |
⇨ WEREBEASTS
Foster van Denend
He's also a Warlock, which made picking which of these to reply to kind of hard. He's made a pact with a Demon (the Psionic) and his powers include magical gaslighting (single-target memory erasure, aka, I totally didn't do this thing, what are you talking about) and the conjuration and control of fire at-will. Tragically for everyone, he can also do these while in the form of a several hundred pound bear.
He and Amethyst live in the same apartment building as Lapis Lazuli, with whom he shares a wall.
I have probably over-used the bold here, but oh well.
Will Zimmerman
During his time in the Sanctuary, Will met and had a brief relationship with Foster when they were both teenagers. It helped him get some stuff figured out, and they parted amicably.
These days, Will is Helen's second in command while also going to college part time online, with Helen's encouragement. He also spends a lot of time dealing with Zim, who lives in the basement.
Snake/Sean Reo
Sean was born with a beast's soul, a fact his parents remain largely unaware of, as well as albinism. However, one of the expressions of his nature is the fact that his eyes are yellow, not pink or red. He's extremely sensitive to sunlight, but enjoys warm places; he goes through sunblock like crazy.
As a child, Sean was selectively mute. Counseling helped him communicate normally. However, he still has difficulty talking in times of stress; regaining Snake's memories will stress him out enough to cause this.
Around when Sean hit puberty, his body started changing in more than the usual ways. He began to grow scales when he got scared, and his senses became more sensitive. One day in high school, before his first varsity volleyball competition, he had to hide in the locker room and turned all the way into a snake before he changed back at all. Fortunately for him, one of his teammates' fathers was a member of the Sanctuary, and figured out what was going on; he directed Sean to the Pack.
Since then, Sean has relied on the Pack as a support group, for tips on managing transformations, and as friends. He's only making it through college because of them and the support of his roommate, Sora, and emotional support animals, Emily and Donne, both snakes. His dorm is haunted by Tamaki and watched over by Joker.
YAMATO ISHIDA (MATTHEW DURAND)
His parents are French immigrants who have sort of come to terms with the fact that their son kind of changes into a wolf-beast on occasion, but to their credit, they really try to be supportive parents because they have no idea what the hell is going on. The first time Matt changed, it was in the middle of a fight when he was trying to defend an elementary school student from bullies. Thankfully, he was spotted by a teacher who had ties to The Pack and he found a mentor and stability (also learning how to control the changes and instinct), which also resulted in him being a slightly more functioning teenager with less angst and self loathing. Being introduced to The Pack also means that now he feels a responsibility for trying to spot younger weres in school that may have slipped through the net, so to speak.
In terms of connections, Matt lives in the apartment next to Greg's with his parents and occasionally pops over to say hi with gifts from his mum. He's also working a part time job doing odd jobs and things at the Sanctuary House under Helen Magnus, having started from volunteering there a year ago. He also does have an NPC girlfriend in this AU who enjoys spending time at Lambert's cat cafe, so usually he can be found there Suffering because his girlfriend is a cat person and he's a wolf.
Even if your character hasn't met him in person yet, you probably know of his online Reddit-equivalent username, which is knifeofday
because I'm a loser and it's funny- he's a teenager which means he's on his phone 90% of the time and chatting is a thing also, so is lurking on supernatural-related forums/discussion threads, apparently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Amethyst van Denend
She currently attends community college in a slightly half assed fashion, but on a more supernaturally relevant note is involved in underground Werebeast Wrestling, which she's surprisingly successful at for someone who's five feet tall at a generous estimate and changes into a dog sized possum. Werebeast Wrestling is the kind of thing you only know about if you know about the supernatural, but if it's the kind of thing you might attend in any capacity you've almost definitely seen her laying some beatdowns/getting punched/playing dead/whatever, because she's down there a lot.
Peridot Wolfe
Peridoodle is a werebat, though this is something she did not discover about herself until she hit the tender age of 14, which is about as far back as her memories clearly extend. She grew up in a foster home in with Lambert and Miko, and after she and Lambert both aged out of the system, all three of them wound up living together again after a brief time apart. Her memories of her true life are still partially present, which is something that DEEPLY vexes her on a regular basis.
She's also an amateur mage who has aspirations of eventually joining the Circle, which is a goal for her mostly because she's hoping that maybe having access to their information and secrets will help her to figure out what the heck's up with her fragmented memories. Her mage and occult studies come second to her plans to be a mechanical engineer though, which she is attending community college for. She also does work study at the public library near campus to help pay for those classes, and that job has her filling the role of "that one cranky person at the guest services counter that you never want to talk to unless you REALLY have to".
Most of her information on the supernatural comes from stalking online communities, and not so much any direct connection to the groups in Portland, because she is a recluse. Her wimpod, Stumpy, has manifested in the AU as her pet hermit crab, which she sinks a good chunk of her spare time and energy into building elaborate enclosures for. Pumpkin is also present; shes' just a regular dog now instead of a weird sentient gourd beast, but she has somehow managed to retain all of her memories.
MIKO WOLFE
As inconvenient as this was, she also honestly considered it pretty cool - which made the fact that she realized she probably shouldn't talk about it kind of obnoxious. Inevitably, though, her siblings did find out, which was a little less earth-shattering than it might have been if Peridot hadn't already been turning into a werebat on a regular basis for two years. In the end, once Lambert had gotten rights to act as Miko's guardian (with Peridot already having aged out of the system), the three of them moved to Portland to look for answers.
These days, Miko is, to be blunt, kind of a delinquent. Somewhat embittered by the combination of having to hide her nature all the time and being generally treated as stupid or hopeless by the teachers at her high school thanks to her difficulties with staying focused, she puts a lot more focus into things like rock music and petty vandalism. As such, she can be found hanging around Foster and Amethyst a lot, as well as Matt’s band. She’s also loosely involved with The Pack, and hangs around Lambert’s cat cafe a lot.
Her Whismur Screamo is also present as a rabbit, and Miko will have full amnesia.
