True -- neutral ground would be good backup. And Pearl is good in her own way too -- helping other changelings and keeping them safe in her gang (as long as they haven't done something to offend the queen). She could send people Helen's way if need be and Pearl is very skilled in charming objects with magic since she's a mage so that might be part of her bartering.
