⇨ POLARIS SUBJECT CLASSIFICATIONS
THAT POLARIS GRIND↴![]() Upon entering Polaris, the new arrivals will soon learn about the driving force behind their daily activities: foremost among these are the concepts of Classifications and Productivity Points. A spreadsheet can be found HERE, indicating people's starting Classifications, based on their intake interviews. Those that have not finished their surveys will be added to the list once they've been completed. Under the "Productivity" column, please describe how well your character will be performing at "Productivity" tasks during the first FOUR DAYS of the event. This includes the items mentioned below, but for the moment, excluding any considerations of Trials. What kind of information I'm looking for is whether they are slacking, being a try hard, or if they are just coasting through. You can include any other details you may deem important. This doesn't have to be filled out immediately, but I would like it filled out before the end of Day 105. The same questions will be asked for each set of four days as the event goes on. Technicians will refer to subjects exclusively by their Classification, as indicated on the spreadsheet. EPSILON↴ The highest classification currently achievable by new inductees, Epsilon are new arrivals that have been deemed worthy of a closer look. Usually, this is due to scientific, academic, or leadship capabilities - or something it's simply because a person seems suitably pliable or eager to please. Those in Epsilon are 'under review' for a place in Classification Delta. Delta are essentially trainee Technicians, who will be allegedly removed from the base testing environment in order to work on the other side of things. In order to qualify for Classification Delta, Epsilon must continue to display consistent and promising results on all other suitability tests. What are 'suitability tests'? Well, it's not super clear. That's word for word what the Technicians tell you. Don't take this position for granted - it can be removed just as easily as it was given. ZETA↴ The majority of subjects rate as Classification Zeta, which doesn't mean much besides that you are an average test subject. Zeta suffer no penalties and gain no additional bonuses. It is possible to move up from Zeta to Epsilon with consistant good behaviour, high productivity, and a willingness to learn. ETA↴ The lowest starting Classification, Eta are those that have been deemed lacking for some reason or another. Usually it is to do with a poor attitude, or for consistantly low productivity. Unfortunately, being in Classification Eta has a tendency towards creating an increasingly uphill battle - Eta producitivity is innately worth less productivity points than a Zeta, and so above average rates of productivity are required to achieve what is considered Satisfactory results. Eta are forced to throw themselves completely into their work if they have any hope of making it back up the slippery slope. THETA↴ Don't be a Theta, it sucks. Classification Theta is for those that have continued to fail once demoted to Eta, and is considered a subject's last chance at achieving 'socialization.' After that, their Classification type will be changed from 'Social' to 'Containment', which is about as bad as it sounds. PRODUCTIVITY↴ Productivity is what makes the world go round, in the world of Polaris. During day hours, all subjects will spend the majority time at 'the Farm' - AKA, a large interior area filled with agriculture. Subjects are expected to perform labour tasks, the results of which add up to an overall 'Productivity Score'. Tasks are various, and will be described more laboriously in the near future, but the basics amount to think like picking weird fruit from trees, cultivating fields, and other typical hard labour chores that 'mortals should be familiar with.' Unfortunately, one thing becomes gradually clear: there is not enough labour available to satisfy everyone's Productivity Scores, especially with Eta requiring extra work to achieve the same result. The consequences of dipping into 'Below Expectations' productivity are apparently pretty bad, though it varies between test groups. To those unable to keep up with labour requirements, there is only one opportunity remaining... TRIALS↴ Trials are experimental processes, advertised at various job boards in 'the Farm'. Volunteering for these trials can earn subject much needed productivity points, often raising their score by entire levels just by undergoing a single trial. Of course, the trials are rarely pleasant, and not everyone will be suitable to every trial. Subjects are encouraged to keep an eye open for trials that suit their description, as it really is the best way to raise one's Productivity! That isn't to say that all trials are optional, of course. |
